Tiracol which is a village is at the very beginning of the Tiracol river & is a part of the Pernem Sub-Division of North Goa. Its location is such that (geographically separated from Goa) it becomes a Goan exclave in Maharashtra. It’s is the North-Western most point of Goa. The beach has a stunning view of the Arabian Sea. It also has the famous Tiracol Fort, which is a Portuguese era fort. It was built in the 17th century, to overlook any enemy coming from the Arabian Sea. It was taken over by the Portuguese in 1746 & remained with the Portuguese till 1961.
